2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your work.

WWW:
- Variety of cinematography
- Good amount of shots for 30 seconds
- Use of close-ups

EBI:
- More intentional mise-en-scene
- Making sure all footage is the same quality
- Some framing in shots to be fixed

3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?

Through this exercise, I was able to demonstrate the main elements of my plan for my coursework project, utilising close-ups, extreme close-ups and fast match-on-action cuts to create a sense of tranquillity amongst nature, successfully communicating the theme of love through the symbolism of swans that mate for life. I also made an attempt at including product placement.

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?

From this preliminary exercise, I have learned about the general process behind planning, filming and editing scenes for a music video, which is a genre of media that I was not particularly aware of before this task. Using the feedback I gained from this exercise, in my actual coursework project I will continue to take a large amount of shots for each scene and use a large variety of camera shots, which is what was most successful with my work for the preliminary exercise. It was also useful to learn from the editing process from this exercise, as I had to prioritise creating a cohesive atmosphere that fit with the music rather than telling a linear narrative, lending my music video towards being concept based.

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything about your actual coursework video plan? This could include your concept, cast/actors or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork or editing.

For my actual coursework project I now want to include one or two shots of my second location of Chinatown to make sure that the second location does not seem too disconnected from the first location. I also want to try and implement some level of performance in my music video, even though I had said before that it would be a concept based video, as I want to make an effort to use more genre conventions. I might also want to think more about make-up, hair and costuming to be more intentional about the mise-en-scene, which may require refilming most of my footage.
