Sound Analysis Task

1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film:

• Diegetic and non-diegetic sound
• Parallel and contrapuntal sound
• Sound bridges

Remember to discuss/analyse all the ifferent types of sound present in the clip:

• Music
• Dialogue
• Voiceover
• Sound effects   

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018)

This scene combines the use of different forms of non-diegetic sound with the mix of two diegetic sound tracks being used to convey the climax in the narrative of the film. 

The scene begins with the non-diegetic orchestral sound track that is used as a sound bridge to create a smoother transition. After the use of diegetic sound effects such as the lightning, sound of the city traffic and the dialogue of Aunt May, the scene features multiple non-diegetic voice overs from various characters. The most prominent feature of the sound design in this scene is the mixing of the crescendo orchestral sound track and the rap music that is reminiscent of the diegetic music that Miles listens to in the beginning of the film, representing the resolution of his character arc through sound.
